Growth in Student Organizations and Clubs at the Corcoran

Congratulations to the student organization in Exhibition Design, SEGD, for a record-breaking number of graduate and undergraduate members this year.  This echoes an overall increase in interest in the sense of community at the Corcoran - a movement we embrace wholeheartedly.   Undergraduates becoming increasingly involved in student government, a super active and academically-minded Book Arts student organization, and a strong, big and vibrant graduate student organization in Design,  have been bolstered by a new student organization of graduate students in Photojournalism drawn from our i

Family and Alumni Weekend

Throughout a celebratory and event-filled Family and Alumni weekend, October 21-23, we welcomed members of the extended Corcoran community.  Many alumni met Caleb Fey, Alumni Relations Manager, for the first time this weekend.  Caleb is an alum himself, detouring by way of graduate school at Yale and having joined the Corcoran early this Fall.

FotoWeek DC International Competition Awards

Out of close to 6,000 entries, two Corcoran faculty received awards from the FotoWeekDC International Awards Competition.  Gabriela Bulisova received an Honorable Mention for Photojournalism/Social Documentary Portfolio and Muriel Hasbun received an Honorable Mention for Single Image, Portrait. Congrats to you both!

Students to Exhibit at the Museum of Paper and Watermark in Italy

It is with enormous pleasure that I announce two students whose work will be exhibited at the Museum of Paper and Watermark (Museo della Carta e della Filigrana) in Fabriano, Italy in summer 2012. Daesik Kim and Jihee (Katelyn) Kang will represent the Corcoran in the Premio Acquerello exhibition. Congratulations to both!
