2009 ALL-SENIOR EXHIBITION CORCORAN GALLERY OF ART AND COLLEGE OF ART + DESIGN May 6—25, 2009

April 23, 2009

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art + Design will showcase work by the next generation of America’s artists in the 2009 All-Senior Exhibition, opening May 6 at the Corcoran. A dynamic exhibition installed in four museum galleries, the show represents all disciplines and features work by every student graduating from the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program. The All-Senior Exhibition will remain on view through May 25.

“All-Senior celebrates the accomplishments of our seniors, highlights the quality of the Corcoran’s undergraduate program, and provides seniors a unique opportunity to showcase their work in a major museum setting,” said Kirk Pillow, dean of the Corcoran College of Art + Design.

The exhibition marks the finale to the College’s Senior Thesis Exhibitions, a series of week-long, rotating exhibitions featuring final projects in photojournalism, photography, graphic design, digital media design and fine art. Seniors select their best work from the thesis exhibitions, or in many cases create new work, for the All-Senior Exhibition.

This year’s show provides a fitting partner to the Corcoran’s current exhibition, Maya Lin: Systematic Landscapes, which reveals the evolution of an artist’s idea from its outset to full realization.

***An opening reception will be held on Tuesday, May 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Corcoran Atrium.***
