Andrea joined C. M. Kling & Associates, Inc. in 1995, after working nine years as an in-house lighting designer with several architect/engineering firms. She has extensive design and project management experience in lighting and dimming systems for commercial, institutional and industrial projects. She has received international lighting design awards from the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) for her lighting of the Woolly Mammoth Theatre and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport Parking Deck. Ms. Hartranft has been a director on the IALD Education Trust and a past Chair of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) Awards Committee. She is Chair of the Progress Report Committee for IESNA and has been a judge for the International Illumination Design Awards at the local, regional and international levels. She also teaches fundamental and advanced lighting design in the Master of Interior design Program at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, and Lighting Fundamentals at Montgomery College. Ms. Hartranft has been invited to speak on lighting issues at several local colleges and Universities as well as providing presentations on lighting awards and the awards process at both Enlighten 2007 and Enlighten 2008. She also conducted a design workshop at the 2010 IES Conference in Toronto, Canada. Ms. Hartranft will be on a panel discussing Lighting Sustainability in Architecture at the 2011 USITT conference in March, and will be speaking on the IALD Education Trust initiatives at the Educators Summit hosted by PLDA in Milan, Italy in April 2011.
