Q: How do I inquire about hosting a special event at the Corcoran Gallery of Art?

A: We suggest that you begin by submitting an Event Inquiry form , which will provide us with the information we will need to begin answering your questions. You may also contact the Office of Special Events by e-mailing events@corcoran.org or by calling (202) 639-1781. A member of the Special Events team will be happy to speak with you and provide all necessary information. You will be encouraged to schedule an appointment for a walk-through so that a member of the Special Events team can provide personalized information and guidance for your event.


Q: What does the rental fee consist of and when will you need payment?

A: The rental fee for the Corcoran consists of three different parts: The Facility Fee, a Security Fee, and an Operations Fee. The Corcoran only hosts one event a night, so you and your guests will receive the undivided attention of our Special Events staff, Security, and Operations staff. In order to secure the date of your event, a deposit of half the total amount is due upon signing the contract. The balance of fees is due one month prior to your event.


Q: I was hoping to use a catering company that is not on your approved list. Is this allowed?

A: We understand that there are many talented companies in Washington, but at this time, we only permit those on our approved list to work in the Gallery. These catering firms are familiar with the Corcoran’s regulations and the unique challenges of staging events in proximity to our artwork. We are certain you will find all of our approved caterers to be helpful and professional with impeccable service and presentation.


Q: How does parking work at the Corcoran for an event?

A: Because the Corcoran does not have a parking facility for special events, we recommend hiring a valet service, or shuttle buses for your guests. Public transportation information is available as the Corcoran is conveniently located just blocks from the Farragut North and Farragut West Metro stops.


Q: I would like the galleries to be open for my guests during my event. Is this possible?

A: Galleries may be open during your event. There are two floors of galleries to choose from, so depending on the size and flow of your event, a member of our Special Events team will suggest which galleries might best suit your interests. An additional fee to open galleries will be charged in order to accommodate the extra security that is required, but we are confident the majesty of our collection and special exhibitions will provide your guests with an evening to remember.
