Educators and Students
The Corcoran Gallery of Art is committed to making art accessible to everyone with a desire to learn, regardless of age, skill level, or experience.
Thematic tours of the Corcoran Gallery of Art introduce students (Pre K through 12) to the joy of learning through art! The Corcoran is an ideal resource for studying a variety of subjects, including American history, world cultures, writing, math, and science. Interactive tours connect with established standards of learning and emphasize the development of essential visual and critical analysis skills. Related workshops, which incorporate studio projects, are linked with tours to further enhance encounters with works of art and inspire students to discover their creative potential in a supportive, encouraging environment. School tours and related workshops are free.
Educator Packets (pdf) on a variety of topics are available to teachers. These comprehensive resources contain informative materials and activities that introduce the concepts, works of art, and vocabulary that students explore during their tour.
Educator Institutes are offered throughout the year. These programs include studio experiences, writing activities and gallery discussions, offering a unique insight into the Corcoran’s renowned collections and exciting temporary exhibitions.
