The Campaign for the Corcoran

these initiatives need your help

The Corcoran is reaching out to art lovers and arts patrons from across the country to achieve its Campaign goals. We welcome your involvement in this historic effort.

Gifts to the Campaign for the Corcoran can take two forms: outright giving, in which the donor makes an immediate unrestricted gift of cash, securities or other property; and a pledge commitment, payable over three to five years. **

Gifts of Cash
An outright gift of cash or securities is the simplest way to give. Outright gifts of cash may be made by check or credit card. A present cash gift to the Corcoran Gallery of Art entitles the donor to an immediate income tax deduction of the gift's full value, up to 50% of the donor's adjusted gross income. Excess tax benefits can be carried over for up to five years.

Gifts of Securities
A gift of stocks, bonds or other publicly traded securities that have been held for more than one year may be deducted at the mean of the high and low quoted selling price on the date the donor officially transfers the stock to the Corcoran. Donors and their brokers should inform the Corcoran's Development Office that a stock transfer is imminent, so that staff can provide the necessary information to assure a smooth transaction.

Pledges
All pledges must be confirmed in writing (Statement of Intent) to receive Campaign credit and fulfilled by gifts of assets that are acceptable to the Corcoran.

The pledge should commit to a specific dollar amount that will be paid according to a fixed time schedule. Statement of Intent forms for the Campaign document a commitment and indicate the intended payment schedule.

Recognition Opportunities
The new Gehry wing, the 19th century Beaux-Arts Flagg building, and the Museum and College's major programs provide opportunities for recognition and enduring legacy in the nation's capitol. Lead gifts to the Campaign for the Corcoran offer a variety of recognition opportunities, including named galleries, studios, and programs.

**The following information is only a brief introduction to the many ways in which donors may make gifts to the Campaign for the Corcoran.
