Washington Post Express Spotlights Corcoran's Exhibition of Work by Tim Hetherington

February 2, 2012

On February 2, Washington Post Express featured Tim Hetherington: Sleeping Soldiers (on view February 4-May 6) as the cover story as part of that paper's Spring Arts Preview. The writer, Mark Jenkins, notes, "Unlike more traditional war photos, Hetherington wasn't concerned simply with freezing the action at its most explosive moments. He also wanted to show the humanity of the participants." Jenkins goes on to note the usefulness of Sleeping Soldiers for students in the Corcoran's photojournalism programs (BFA and MA) as well as Shadows of History (also on view February 4-May 6), the other Corcoran exhibition of war photography.
