Paid Opportunity for Corcoran Students at IAC

June 13, 2012

Earlier in the Spring semester PSI, a organization focused on world health visited the Corcoran asking student help and ideas at the International AIDS Conference held here in DC in July. Their partner ALERE, Inc., would like to work with Corcoran students to get some original art for its "Make Positive More Positive" campaign

ALERE has donated HIV testing kits to PSI and funded the trip that we just took Zoeann on recently. They are looking for 10 pieces of artwork from students (can be 10 students or 5 students). The art must feature the "+"  symbol of the campaign but other than that students are free to be as creative as they like. Artists will get a stipend of about $200 for materials, etc. ALERE would work these student pieces into the art exhibit that's now going to be projected during the reception.

In addition, ALERE will pay students who would be able to volunteer at the conference to man the art table where visitors will stop by and make their own positive symbols.

At the end of the event, they are going to auction off the symbols and all proceeds will go to charity. If any student is interested in participating or finding out more information about this opportunity, please send an email with your name and contact information to by Sunday, June 17.
