Since exhibiting his work at the Corcoran’s 35th Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting in 1977, John Alexander has become internationally renowned for his powerful, detailed, and sometimes satirical paintings and drawings of our natural world. Over the course of his three-decade career, Alexander has exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. In January 2011, he will serve as the Artist in Residence at the Corcoran’s partner school, Escuela de Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, as part of the Pittman Study Away Program. Join us as John Alexander discusses his prolific career, his first exhibition at the Corcoran in the 70’s, and the humor so often found in his unique artworks.
