free with admission and perfect for first-time visitors. Lasting
approximately 45 minutes, Highlights tours provide an overview
of the Corcoran’s collections and include an introduction to the
building. Register for tours at the Admissions Desk, and meet your
guide in the Atrium. Highlights tours are limited to 20 people.
Perspectives Gallery Talks are offered select Thursday evenings.
Please see the Calendar

Group Tours:
The Corcoran offers private tours led by knowledgeable museum docents
for groups of 15 or more. Tours last approximately 45 minutes
and provide engaging experiences with selected current exhibitions
or the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s permanent collections. Depending
on availability, visits of groups of 15 to 50 people may be scheduled
during the week at designated tour times. A fee of $2 per person,
in addition to admission, is charged for Group Tours. Advance
payment in one transaction is required for guided tours (American
Express, Visa, MasterCard, and checks are accepted). Group tours
must be arranged at least four weeks in advance by calling the
Corcoran’s Education department at (202) 639-1730 or e-mailing tours@corcoran.org.
Group Visits:
The Corcoran accommodates large groups of visitors, such as bus
groups and convention attendees, to its permanent collections
and, selectively, to special exhibitions. Discounted pricing
may apply as determined by Visitor Services. Groups must purchase
tickets a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks in advance to qualify for any
available discounting. These groups are self-guided and length
of stay is self-determined. Group menus are offered in our Café des
Artistes; this requires advanced reservations by contacting the
Café Manager at (202) 639-1786. Download
a Group Tour menu here. For additional information
regarding group visits, please call (202) 639-1730 or e-mail
us at tours@corcoran.org.
Advance payment in one transaction is required (please see above)
for all groups and is non-refundable in case of cancellation.

School Tours:
Exposure to the visual arts has been proven to enhance students’ academic
experiences throughout curricula. Arrange a tour of the Corcoran
Gallery of Art and introduce your students to the joy of learning
through art! The Gallery is the perfect classroom extension for
studying subjects like American history, geography, literature,
music, and even geometry. Interactive tours explore our varied
collections, tie into school curricula, emphasize the development
of essential visual and critical analysis skills, and provide an
opportunity for each student to discover his or her creative potential
in a supportive, encouraging environment.
Comprehensive Educator Packets provide teachers with informative
materials and activities to help introduce the concepts, works
of art, and vocabulary students explore during their tour. Student
participation and enthusiasm during the Gallery Tours is significantly
enhanced by the use of this preparatory information in the classroom.
Gallery Tours are a FREE service of the Corcoran Gallery of Art,
and a complementary workshop is just $3 per student. Please reserve
tours early to ensure that you receive your preferred tour date.
